Share Sonder with your family members
If your organisation has chosen to offer Family Access, you can share Sonder with your family members so they also get 24/7 support. Here's how to set it up and what you need to know.
Before you start:
Family Access is an optional feature, so not all organisations offer it. To find out if your workplace does, check the app (you'll see a "Share Sonder" option in the More tab if it's available) or ask your HR/People team.
If you don't see the option in your app, your organisation hasn't opted in, and you can ask your HR team if they'd like to add it.
Who can access Family Access:
You can share Sonder with:
- Your children (dependants)
- Your parents
- Your spouse or partner
- Your siblings
- Adoptive family members
Essentially, anyone you consider family who would benefit from 24/7 access to support.
How to share Sonder with family members
-
Step 1 - Find the share option: Open the Sonder app and tap the More tab on the home screen.
-
Step 2 - Tap "Share Sonder": Scroll down to find the "Share Sonder" option (it has a small icon of a person with a plus symbol). Example here.
-
Step 3 - Choose who to send the link to: Select the family member and choose how to send them the link. You can use SMS, WhatsApp, Messenger, email, or other social media.
-
Step 4 - They download and register: Your family member will receive instructions to download the Sonder app. They'll enter a registration code you send them and set up their account.
If you want to share Sonder with a child under 18, they need your consent as their parent or guardian. This is required by Sonder's privacy policy and protects young people. When they register, you'll be asked to confirm you're their parent or guardian and that you're giving permission for them to use Sonder.
In the event that a family member is not of an age to consent to treatment, Sonder’s clinicians will provide advice to parents/guardians regarding recommended treatment regardless if there’s ‘Family Access’.
Frequently asked questions.
Why can’t I see the ‘Share Sonder’ option in my app?
The family access link can take up to 48 hours to appear after you activate your Sonder account. If it hasn’t shown up after that time, please email us at hello@sonder.io for assistance.
Do my family members have the same access as me?
Yes. When you share Sonder, they get full access to all the features you do, including 24/7 Care Specialists, Nurses, counselling, mental health support and safety features.
Is my family member's use confidential?
Yes, completely. Your family member's conversations with the Sonder team are private and confidential, just like yours are. Sonder won't share details of their care with you unless they explicitly ask us to.
Can I see what my family member is using Sonder for?
No. Their use of Sonder is confidential. You won't have access to their conversations, appointments, or support history. It's their private space to get help.
What if my family member is older (elderly parent)?
Sonder's support is designed for anyone needing wellbeing, medical, mental health or safety support. If your elderly parent could benefit from 24/7 access Family Access is a great way to give them that support.
Can multiple family members register?
Yes. You can share Sonder with as many family members as you want. Each person sets up their own account and has their own private access to support.
What if my family member's situation changes (e.g. they turn 18)?
Their access to Sonder continues as normal. There's no change to how they use it.
Can a family member remove themselves from Sonder?
Yes. They can deactivate their account anytime through the app settings.
