The Help and Emergency Button
If you ever feel unsafe, Sonder has a large red 'Help' button in the Sonder app connects you to a real person on Sonder's safety team within seconds.
What is a Help Alert vs the Emergency Button?
The Help button is a large red 'Help' button accessible throughout the Sonder app. Press it if you're in a situation where you feel unsafe or need immediate help. It connects you directly to a trained member of Sonder's safety team, who can assist you right away.
The Emergency Button calls your local emergency services. Use the Help Alert to reach Sonder's safety team. Use 000 if you're in immediate life-threatening danger.
When to use the Help Alert:
- Feel unsafe or threatened
- Are experiencing violence or harassment
- Are having a crisis and need someone to talk to immediately
- Are in a situation and need help to work out what to do
You don't need to overthink it. If something feels wrong and you need help, press the button.

-
Tell them what's happening:
-
If you can speak: Have a conversation. Explain what's happening and what you need.
-
If you can't speak safely: You can text instead. This lets you communicate discreetly without the person near you knowing you've called for help.
-
4. Depending on what you tell them, Sonder's safety team will:
-
- Stay on the line with you for support and guidance
- Send a responder to your location

- Connect you with ongoing support
Important to know:
-
It's confidential. Pressing the Help button won't notify your employer or anyone else without your consent.
-
You can press it even if you're unsure. You don't need to be 100% certain you're in danger. If something feels off or unsafe, press the button. Sonder's team can assess the situation and help decide what to do next.
-
It's available 24/7. Help is available day or night, any time you need it.
-
Better to have it and not need it. It's much better to press the button and get help than to not have it available when you do need it.
- If we aren't able to confirm a members safety we will rely on a variety of methods to ensure safety is confirmed. Depending on the particular circumstances we may:
- Deploy one of our responders
- Contact a members nominated NOK
-

Frequently asked questions.
How fast will someone answer?
Someone from the safety team will answer within 30 seconds of pressing the Help button. This is a priority call.
What if I can't speak?

What if I accidentally press the Help Alert?
Tell Sonder's team it was accidental when they answer. They won't judge. If you hang up without explanation, they may try to contact you to make sure you're okay.
Will the police be called?
Sonder's team will assess your situation. If you're in immediate danger or if emergency services are needed, they'll discuss it with you first. You're not on your own in deciding what happens next.
Will my employer know I pressed the Help Alert?
No. Pressing the Help Alert is completely confidential. Your employer won't be notified unless you choose to tell them.
