Welfare Checks

An explanation on Sonder's welfare checks process.

Welfare checks may be conducted by Sonder upon request if you are a manager or supervisor and have a concern for one of your team members/students. These welfare checks are to ensure that members are safe, healthy and are aware of the support that can be provided through Sonder should they need it.

We believe it’s most effective for managers to encourage their team member/student to contact Sonder directly, in order to get support on their own terms. They can do so by downloading Sonder from their relevant app store, or you can ask them to visit https://members.sonder.io/download-app

Alternatively, if you would like us to reach out to your team member/student on your behalf, we’ve included a visual workflow of how you can request this at the bottom of this article. When you contact Sonder, we will ask for the reason and background to the request, as this will allow us to choose the best response when contacting your team member/student. Please note, we will provide the team member/student your name so they are aware of where the request came from, to foster trust and a culture of care.

When we make contact to the team member/student, this may be via in-app messages, text message, phone calls, one of our own Sonder Responders going on-site, or even emergency services - all depending on how severe the situation is. After the welfare check has been completed, one of our team will let you know if we were successful in making contact, and if they are ok or otherwise.
